Chess 2
Chess 2
the rewards from the last tournament were sent, i'm considering running a second edition
we lost some people but some new others started playing anyway
we need 12 people for the torunament
i invite everybody really, you're fine as long as you know how to play at all, like half the people here are total noobs, there's good competition for 400-rated people and 1500-rated people, anybody can have a good match in this setup, skill levels are all over the place

Re: Chess 2
I divorced my wife of 20 years today, who also donated her kidney to me, because she dislikes Chess 2
I’m fucking furious, after 20 years you’d think you know someone right?
Today I asked her “hey I’m in the mood to play some Chess, wanna join me?” To where she replied “sure.” I told her we can just skip all of the bad moves that the alt right has an obsession with (crab openings) and go straight to playing the objective masterpiece known as the Chess 2. My wife LAUGHED (yes directly at me, no fucking respect from this woman) replying she didn’t really like it and found it boring. I looked at her straight in the eye, it all became clear to me, my wife is chessphobic, she just hates Hikaru, she doesn’t respect chess players whatsoever.
So I slapped that dumb bitch in the face and screamed “I WILL NOT TOLERATE ITALIAN GAME IN THIS HOUSEHOLD, YOU JUST HATE IT BECAUSE IT HAS TWO KINGS” she (thankfully) started to cry with a confused look on her face and asked what came over me and why would I do that. I looked at her directly in the eyes again furiously, and asked her “what did you say about the sequel to Chess again?!?” She started yelling, blood and tears rolling down her face, with her voice cracking “you hit me over that?!!? Because I didn’t like a game?!????” That was the last straw, I then said “I want a divorce” she replied “you just broke my nose and now want to divorce me over a pair of fucking kings!?!?!? After everything I’ve done for you?!?!? After saving your life!?!?!” I proceeded to walk out of the door, I looked back at her and said “I will not be married to someone who has 0 respect for chess” Spat at her, then said “die mad about it” and left.
Thank you Carthage, Thon, and r/polska, if it wasn’t for you, I’d still be married to that chess hating bitch.

Re: Chess 2
Group rolls
we are beginning the group phase, I performed the proper roll today
Group A:
- Noam
- Carthage
- Alora guy
Group B:
- Farhir
- Orn
- Elia
Group C:
- Tanna guy
- Ashtar
- Liren
Group D:
- Thang
- Fell&Amara
- Nesanam
Fell&Amara play as a duo for kek. they will be taking turns each move, no cooperation and tactics, they just change spots at the PC for every fucking move, it will be super fun imo (Fell is like, the worst, even worse than me, Amara is just after the top 3)
The rules of all matches
- you play 3 games (don't have to be all in one sitting)
- default format is 20+8 (20 minutes base time, 8 seconds increment) - the fastest Classical format; fast games with amateurs are retarded and don't allow people to really play and make an attempt
- you can go for other formats if players agree, it can be 0+2, 15+10, 40+0, 0+180, 17+1, whatever, as long as you agree, if you don't, you go for 20+8 (huge advice from Thon - don't go for faster games)
Rules of group phase
- from every group, 2 people move on to the next stage, it will be based hopefully only on selecting the two that got the best wins/draws/loses balance, that's how we want it to go
- but if the above is impossible, it will be decided by points assigned by each sub-match. every win of one of the 3 sub-matches is 2 points, every draw is 1 point
example for that is:
Thang vs. Fell&Amara: 3:0 (+6 for Thang, 0 for Fell&Amara)
Thang vs. Nesanam: 2:1 (+so +4 for Thang, +2 for Nesanam guy)
Fell&Amara vs. Nesanam: 1.5:1.5(1 win, 1 lost, 1 draw) (+3 for Fell&Amara, +3 for Nesanam guy)
that would mean: 10 points for Thang, 8 for Nesanam guy, 3 for Fell&Amara; Thang is #1, Nesanam nigga is #2, Fell&Amara get dropped)
- you have 1 month to finish your games in the group phase
Rules for the further stages
okay guys, so, here is the setup, the post-group phase will be different this time
at first my general idea was to exclude Bart if we get a set without him - right now it's just too obvious he will win and he would just steamroll his way through. generally the same goes for Thon, albeit he's more random given the medicine he takes, and he can get clunky depending on random chance (he lost one match against Ioghnis for instance), but then it still kinda sucks because then Thon is just an obvious winner, unless he gets defeated by panic attacks and I don't think that feels like a W, like, the winner would probably feel pathetic and sad rofl, so it's like either eliminating Bart, or Bart&Thon, but it's also no fucking fun
Ashtar suggested another, more complicated system, that really works super well. I think the table is easy to read, but if you just suck at reading charts, then don't worry, as I'll be filling in the gaps as the games proceed anyway so don't mind that
this is the setup, here's an explanation
more games, more chances even if you get matched against somebody outside of your paygrade, we don't eliminate neither Bart nor Thon from participating in the fun, nor do they eliminate unlucky people in their own groups

Asztartej Togrutancu pisze:Any person has to lose at least two series to drop out of tournament. In the loser's bracket it tell you who is placed there (L2 for example is the loser of series number 2 from the winner's bracket). Even if Bart and Thon eliminate each other in the winner's bracket semi-final, loser still drops down to the loser's bracket and has a chance to go back to semi-final, fighting against the best player from the loser's bracket. I think it's a really fun format to use, everyone will get a chance and plenty of games vs reasonably skilled opponents.
